SAVANNAH JAMES JOINS LOVB LOS ANGELES AS INVESTOR
James joins growing ownership as LOVB Los Angeles prepares to bring professional volleyball to LA at Intuit Dome
LOS ANGELES (September 17, 2026) LOVB (pronounced LOVE) Los Angeles, the newest professional sports franchise in Southern California, today announced that Savannah James, founder and philanthropist, has joined the team as an investor ahead of its inaugural 2026-27 season, bringing her longstanding commitment to women, sports, youth and community to the organization.
James’ investment in LOVB Los Angeles and professional volleyball reflects her belief in the continued growth of women’s sports and the importance of creating pathways for the next generation.
“I’ve seen firsthand through my daughter Zhuri how powerful volleyball can be for young girls, the confidence, discipline and sense of community it creates,” said James. “LOVB is an incredible league with elite athletes and a level of competition that is only going to continue to grow. I’m excited to be part of LOVB Los Angeles and to help build something special that girls like Zhuri can aspire to be part of one day.”
“Savannah represents exactly the kind of leadership, purpose and influence we want around LOVB Los Angeles,” said Ana Mendy, President of LOVB Los Angeles. “She has spent years creating opportunities for women and young people, and she understands the power of sport to shape what the next generation believes is possible. We’re incredibly proud to have her building this with us.”
“We’ve been intentional about bringing together an investor group that understands both the enormous opportunity in women’s sports and the responsibility that comes with building a new franchise in Los Angeles,” said Alexis Ohanian, 776 founder and owner of LOVB Los Angeles. “Savannah brings exactly that combination of conviction, perspective and impact. I’m thrilled to have her with us.”
The announcement comes as LOVB Los Angeles builds momentum toward its inaugural season. The franchise recently announced Intuit Dome as its home venue and welcomed actress, writer and entrepreneur Issa Rae to its ownership group. On September 25, LOVB Los Angeles will unveil its official team name, logo and brand identity, followed by its first Fan Fest on September 26, where fans can meet players, experience the new team and celebrate the arrival of professional women’s volleyball in Los Angeles.
